SoGnar was invented by Taylor Ewing, a professional wakeboarder, in 2022. Taylor created it because no communication tool existed for action sports riders operating off-grid. He built the first prototypes himself, tested them with his coaching students, and has been refining the product since. Frank DeLuca, an aerospace engineer and sports parent, joined the build to bring it to market at scale.
SoGnar is the first off-grid communication system built for action sports. It combines a Bluetooth speaker and a walkie-talkie in one waterproof, mount-compatible device. Not a speaker. Not a radio. Both in one unit that works where phones fail.
No. The walkie-talkie operates on radio frequency. No tower, no app, no data required. Backcountry, on the water, zero bars — SoGnar works. That is the entire point.
Yes. That is exactly what Taylor built it for. The coach mounts SoGnar on their vest or gear on the boat. The student wears or mounts their unit. 500-meter range means you can communicate from the boat to the rider in the water in real time. Taylor's coaching program has been using this since 2022.
